MEET GINA
Where it began
Drawing, painting and being creative in any way I could shaped my childhood.
I was happiest playing home styling redesigning my bedroom and moving furniture around the house and was never far from an interior design magazine or showroom. My school life was dominated by creative subjects, and I naturally progressed into a career in interior design.
It began with show home styling. Working for a luxury design company, I travelled the country turning new builds into places people wanted to live. Colours, textures, fabrics and furnishings all played their part and when asked, I jumped at the chance to establish a design division for a prestigious house builder, developing a list of high-profile contacts I still maintain today.
Building sites
From measuring, to calculating, to liaising with tradespeople and clients, I did it all. Teamwork, timescales and the tiniest of details, each of these elements a crucial piece of the renovation jigsaw.
It was a steep learning curve, but a ladder I was thrilled to climb as the experience gave me a whole new way of looking at space, and an understanding of how one room in a home should seamlessly link to another - the inside, to out.
Going solo
I set up my interior design business in 1999 to provide a bespoke home styling service, working with clients on projects big and small. And like my business, I’ve evolved ever since. Giles Bray tutored me through a City & Guilds traditional upholstery qualification, inspiring me to upscale furniture with fabrics, trims and a touch of the unexpected.
At Farrow & Ball I trained in colour consultancy, being introduced to the technicalities and psychology of colour and the importance of light. And then came nature.
Bringing the outdoors in
I’ve always loved the outdoors; it’s been a huge part of my life. A complete garden redesign later, alongside the establishment of a flower cutting field, and I knew I had to formally incorporate nature into my business.
And so, I studied at the prestigious London College of Garden Design in Kew Gardens, graduating from this prestigious course with a diploma. From initial sketch through to complete construction and planting plans, outdoor space is no longer an afterthought, it’s a key part of what I do.
And now!
Studio Gina is built on years of experience in creative design, technology, home building, project management and horticulture. It’s the place to go for a complete, bespoke design service for inside the home and out.
Too often projects are mismanaged with key decisions hurriedly made, or never made at all. Colour, light, and lifestyle are often overlooked, and renovations which should seamlessly flow from the interior to exterior stop at the front or back door.
I’m passionate about helping homeowners banish indecisiveness and overwhelm so together we can create spaces that are lived in and loved.
